Times Have Changed. . .Again

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit our own backyards over a year ago, we weren’t sure what to expect. Sudden lockdown and quarantine not only made us pause the normal rhythm of our lives but postpone making plans for the future, including seeking assisted living or nursing care.

Now that health professionals have learned so much more about the virus, including how to slow the spread and, even more importantly, prevent it with vaccinations, many of us are looking forward to picking up from where we left off. While life may never be exactly the same as it was before COVID-19, it is certainly opening up to greater possibilities. In fact, with the world in this hopeful, “fresh start” mode, now may be the best time for you or your loved one to transition to an enriching and connected community like Good Shepherd Home.

Our Expertise and Protocols

Even before COVID-19, Good Shepherd has always put our residents’ health and safety at the forefront of all we do. Since the onset of the pandemic, we have remained in strict alignment with all state recommendations regarding face coverings, hand washing, and social distancing, not only with residents and staff, but visitors. All visitors must come by appointment only, pass a thorough screening, and acknowledge that they received and understand the COVID-19 education we provide. Above all, our residents and staff have had the opportunity to be vaccinated with both doses of Moderna, and Good Shepherd offers new residents vaccinations as well.

Because of their vulnerable populations, senior living communities have become one of the safest places to live during COVID-19. In fact, because of our strict attention to safety protocols and screenings, Good Shepherd is likely safer than many private homes that often lack the materials, ability, or opportunity to screen every person who comes onto the property. We’ve become experienced in COVID-19  this past year, and we are only continuing to make gains in our understanding of how to eliminate the threat as we remain on the leading edge of medical information and safety.

Take the Next Step

If you or your loved one is still uncertain about moving forward with senior care, one of the most reassuring actions you can take is getting in touch with someone to answer your questions. You don’t have to decide everything at once! Take the next step by contacting Good Shepherd, exploring the possibilities, and beginning to picture what “the good life” can mean.
